Wilson re-signs; Odds and Ends pt.2

Well for missing yesterday, it was a fairly uneventful day. Today has also been very slow. The big news is that the Seattle Mariners have reached a deal with SS Jack Wilson. The deal is worth $10M for 2 years. Wilson, more famous in Pittsburgh never really got comfortable with the Mariners in 31 games. His BA dropped 43 points and his OBP dropped 47 points. He'd end up with a .224 average with 1HR and 8 RBI's and almost as many strike outs as in the first half of the season with the Pirates. The question is did Seattle overpay? I think at this point yes, but we'll see how he does with a whole season of AL ball.

The Phillies are still in pursuit of a 3B, but have added catcher to their list. MLB's Todd Zolecki says that "Chone Figgins is out of the Phillies price liking. Look for DeRosa, Beltre, or Polanco to be the solution." The team is considering letting backup catcher Paul Bako go. In 44 games for the Phils, Bako hit .224 with 3 HRs and 9 RBIs. Since he made the league in 1998, he's never played a full season.

The Nats are listening to offers about OF Josh Willingham. The team doesn't appear tow ant to part with him, but the Braves may be making a push to acquire him. Willingham hit .260 with 24HRs and 61RBIs.
